Anything To Watch Out For?
The nearest road is 300m away throuhg the forest - some background road noise can be heard. We feel the many pluses of this house more than make up for it and, if music is on and/or children are playing in the pool, you would hardly notice.
Why Ile de Ré?
The Ile de Ré is a chic and upmarket island just off the French mainland by La Rochelle, known for its pretty villages, gorgeous harbours, fabulous beaches and a lovely climate. Cycle trails connect all corners of the island through forests and salt marshes, two wheels is the way to explore. There is a huge choice of restaurants, boutiques & markets, plus plenty for the more active including sailing, paddle-boarding and surfing.

Villa Gros Jonc is set in 1.4 acres of enclosed gardens, surrounded by forest. Access is via an electric gare - a long sloping driveway (perfect for any budding skateboarders!) leads down to the villa, gardens, terrace and pool.
Inside - living:
The building is L-shaped, and divided into living and sleeping parts. The main living area is a long, open-plan sitting-dining room with kitchen at the far end, open to the gardens on both sides.
The sitting area is attractively furnished, two very comfortable sofas, fireplace and large flat-screen TV.
The dining area is smart and contemporary dining, featruing an dresser and long table with comfortable chairs for 10.
The kitchen is modern, quite compact for the size of house, but well equipped and opens to covered dining area of terrace outside.
Inside - bedrooms:
Four bedrooms are accessed from the entrance hall:
- Master suite with 180cm double bed and ensuite shower, doors open on to the terrace
- Second double with 180cm double bed and ensuite shower
- Two twin rooms, either side of a shared shower room
- Two separate WCs
The fifth bedroom is accessed from outside: a spacoius double bedroom with 160cm bed and ensuite bathroom & WC.
Outside:
Large pool terrace with 13m x 6m heated pool (May to September), protected by an electric rolling cover. Four sun loungers plus 2 large outdoor cushions; comfortable outdoor seating area with parasol; covered outdoor dining table.
A summer kitchen is located next to the kitchen, with large barbecue, sink and fridge.
The gardens are nicely landscaped, featuring lawns, palm trees, attractive beds, and the lush forest as the backdrop.

Location
Villa Gros Jonc is located in a forest clearing 1.5 kms back from Gros Jonc beach, 2.5 kms from the centre of Le Bois Plage. Acess is via an unmade road - fine for most vehicles except low-slung supercars. It is 300m from the road and some background road noise is audible.
