Destinations > Biscarrosse
Whether you want to be at the lake beach or ocean beach we have a selection of Biscarrosse holiday rentals to consider for active family holidays. Incredibly popular with Dutch, Germans and Belgian and yet still something of a secret amongst British travellers. With its combination of fantastic surfing beaches, endless pine forests and beautiful lakes, Biscarrosse truly evokes the spirit of Aquitaine – think of it as a vast and natural outdoor playground!

Lovely natural setting. Towns are not that pretty but if you want a healthy, outdoor time in nature this ticks the box.
Product:
Gorgeous natural area and lovely lake. Enjoyed cycling around the area. Great theme parks like the water park. Perfect place for a relaxing and active family holiday.

The lake is lovely, and not far to drive to the ocean

lots of things to do and a choice of lake or seaside

Cottages du Lac is a calm, family-friendly resort directly on the lake and near the little village of Parentis-en-Born. The location is fantastic, right next to the lake's beach, and we stayed in one of the little cottages/chalets with a great view. The resort is much calmer than the two campsites either side - we did hear their evening entertainment noise, but not so much that it really disturbed us. The cottages are tastefully decorated with all the basics for self catering. The only three things we missed were - a DVD player for the evenings (we bought our own), a oven in the kitchen (although we managed with just the hob) and definitely either aircon or fans - we had to buy fans in the end as there was no way we could have slept without them - it was well over 30 degrees during the days and the cottage was very hot during the night even with all the windows open. The pool area was well kept and it was great having two pools - one heated and covered - especially when the weather changed and our boys could still enjoy the covered pool. The organised 'animation' or entertainment (such kayaking or activities on the lake) was pretty light and a bit chaotic at times, but we had fun all the same. One small gripe - the wifi. As other reviews have said you have to pay for the whole family to access it, and it was at best patchy, very slow and stopped working completely during a stormy day. On the other hand, its a great reason to get off the internet and out and about. There was plenty to do on the lake and in the surrounding area for our two teenage boys in a week (we visited the nearby inflatable water park and high ropes course which were both excellent) and you can rent bikes from the cabin at the entrance to the resort. Overall a very enjoyable holiday but with a suggestion to Cottages du Lac to supply fans in the height of summer and sort out the wifi!

Nice place would go back with young kids

Lovely beach at Biscarosse & market
Product:
The local area has so much to do, lovely paths around the lake, play area, sandy beach, watersports etc. The only thing is not many good restaurants or bars within walking distance/Parentis en Born - we found a couple of great places in Biscarosse though just a short drive away.
Product:
Not too touristy, easy access to other resorts etc.
Product:
Good market and facilitites. Le Ponton restaurant pricey but good with terrific location by the lake watching the sea planes landing and taking off.
Product:
Fantastic beaches
Product:
Great having a lakeside apartment. Fabulous lake. Kids loved it.
Product:
Lovely corner of France. Sheltered fresh water lakes with sandy beaches perfect for little ones, surrounded by beautiful pine forests. The whole area is sheltered by a massive dune from the Atlantic, but if surfing is your thing, Biscaross Plage is fantastic.
Product:
Lots to do, great destination for a family holiday.
Product:
Lacks a small shop near the villas but otherwise excellent beaches and access to lake
Product:
This was an ideal area, so much to see and not far to travel
Product:
Good variety of things to do. Better suited to families with teenagers than younger ones though.
Product:
Parentis is perfect for kids. Lake clean & safe. It's possible to cycle everywhere, including the supermarket on cycle paths. The little sailing school on the lake is friendly & just fantastic for trying out paddle boarding, windsurfing, canoeing etc. V reasonably priced. Sea at Mimizan is exciting. Fun beach bars etc.
Product:
Beach at Ispe is great for small children
Product:
Destination was good. Parentis had 2 good supermarkets but the restaurants were not open even though it was the first week of June.
Product:
Biscarrosse was a lovely seaside resort with some great restaurants including ones serving wonderful fruits de mer. The beach is long and sandy with some great surf for surfing or body boarding. I wouldn't particularly recommend it for those with small children as the surf can get very big but nearby is a wonderful lake with much calmer water.

Beautiful Place
Product:
The lake at the site was excellent, and the beaches at Biscarosse fantastic.
Product:
Cottages du lac is in Parentis en Born, about 5 to 10 minutes drive inland from Biscarrosse. The village is quiet but with a great board games shop, and two good supermarkets, as well as an amazing boulangerie and macaroon shop called Patisserie Bled near the intermarche and opposite a wonderful butcher. by the post office. The town of biscarrosse has a small out of town mall that has a MCDonalds and is ok, but biscarrosse plage is more blackpool by the sea than classy french surf town. That said Arachon is fantastic, classy and the area, the vineyards, st emilion and the bordeaux region are all within a 1 hour and a half drive. We definitely enjoyed our stay and will be back to the area next year.
Product:
Lake and sea - ideal for young families.
Product:
Lovely area
Product:
Lake, forest, ocean........
Product:
Lovely area. Lakes are wonderful and our sons enjoyed 3 days of French sailing school at Navarosse. Dune de Pyla was a highlight and cycling round the lakes and to sanguinet were also great fun. Really great location for families.
Product:
The region remains really nice, great beaches and we thought Biscarosse and Mimizan and the beachside places seemed on the up a bit, a little more sparkle than our last visit. Lots of things to visit nearby, although we spent most of our time around Parentis.
Product:
Great area and base for exploring Archachon and surrounding region. Plenty for the family to do.
Product:
Serious traffic problems on Saturdays would put us off returning if only Saturday changeovers available
Product:
Beeches a little crowded by the life guards but lakes are amazing
Product:
We spent more time in Parentis than Biscarosse. Biscarosse itself does not have much to offer, I would head to Biscarosse Plage instead or Parentis, which is smaller and had more of a French villagey feel. We rode our bikes to Parentis for dinner 3-4 times, rather than self catering, which was handy. Many off-road bike paths made biking with young children (6 yrs and 8yrs) safe and stree-free.
Product:
Biscarosse plage v busy. Fabulous sea plane museum well worth a visit
Product:
Disappointing choice of restaurants & culture. Sadly while we ate well in the dordogne & honfleur, we didn't strike gold at any of the places we tried in the area. Maybe we were just unlucky, but there was a bit of a 'milk the tourists by the seaside' vibe! Recommend a day at the dune du pyla, breathtaking beauty!
Product:
As expected
Product:
Lots to do with the lake close by. Highlights were 'buoy' riding, horing motor boat, atlantic ocean. No insects during our time. Temperature drop at night, so it is easy to sleep!!
Product:
Lovely place - great restaurants, cafes and beach. The waves are amazing and great for surfing! Fantastic!
Product:
Good base to explore surrounding area which was beautiful. Definitely need a car. Oil platforms / refinery etc nearby were a bit off putting, and we would return to the general area but not to this site / lake due to this.
Product:
beach and surroundings are beautiful
Product:
We love this part of France and Biscarrosse is great. Lots of friendly bars and restaurants, gorgeous beaches and lovely lakeside walks. The lake is spoilt by the oil extraction, but still relatively clean.
Product:
Plenty to do & see but you will need a car to get around.
Product:
Lake great, water very warm when sea was cold. Lake and sea beaches clean. Lots of activities water sports and bike hire, nice bike tracks through woods along coast.
Product:
Lake had nodding donkeys (oil), not an attractive view!
Product:
Brilliant
Product:
Great beach, town is a little soulless but has great restaurant . We enjoyed it.
Product:
Surf more varied than adjacent resorts.Bike trails less extensive though.
Product:
ok
Product:
Lovely. It is an area where the French holiday and so very pleasant not to be surrounded by Brits. Plenty of sports to do on the lake and on the lakeshore but it gets very busy during the day.
